Behind the scenes of LILITH with Corin Howell
Demons. Romance. Violent charm. LILITH is a devilishly unique comic series from fan-favorite artist and creator Corin Howell, now collected in a single, fiery trade paperback. This horror-romcom hybrid is equal parts bloody mayhem, heartfelt transformation, and wildly stylish monster-girl misadventure. If you’ve been craving a manga-inspired graphic novel with attitude, humor, and real emotional depth, LILITH is about to become your next obsession.

So about this creature lady.
LILITH originally came out of a mix of coping with my OCD, joking discord messages, and trying something different design-wise with my illustrations. I had just watched ‘Unsung Heroes of Illustration’ by Pete Beard on YouTube, and he covered Grau. So, I drew a demon lady holding a severed head while her dress bled into the background of vibrant red. Posted it up online, and the rest is history.
LILITH is a very personal story that I just wanted to share. The story itself grew from my emotional experiences with feeling like an outsider. I was that weird kid in school, and on top of that, when my OCD emerged later on in my life, made me feel even weirder, like a freak. A personal event over a decade ago shattered any trust I had, and Lilith became kind of this representation of how I tried to keep myself distant from anyone that wanted to get close. But very much how I changed over the last decade, so does Lilith in her own journey: she finds a connection with Penelope, the complete and total polar opposite to Lilith’s cold and stiff demeanor. Despite her violent tendencies, you see her change, and a warmth begins to blossom from this growing relationship with Penelope. Something she’s very confused and, possibly, frightened by. But she won’t tell you that.
Combining the story with my love of horror and pinup girls, was just icing on the cake. But of course I wanted to balance the blood, guts, and violence with some hilarity. I just wanted it to be fun, having the story all gloomy, serious, and dark didn’t quite fit. In truth, I approached it how I’ve approached writing fanfiction: the RomCom that no one asked for.
The artistic approach to LILITH came from my history and love of Manga– I didn’t really read a lot of American comics when I was a kid. At first, I attempted to stick to a western style, but it felt so stiff and out of place. At that point, I just said, “Fuck it,” and dove in head first in emulating the manga I grew up with, taking inspiration from titles like Trigun and FullMetal Alchemist.
Taking LILITH from the boards of social media and bringing her to life in her own story has been the craziest experience I’ve ever had. And I’m hungry for more.

What started as a bloody, vibrant sketch has evolved into a wildly original horror-romcom hybrid about identity, isolation, and the terrifying vulnerability of human (and demon) connection. Corin Howell brings a manga-inspired visual style to LILITH that’s brimming with expressive energy, hilarious horror, and real heart — all wrapped in a demonic pinup aesthetic. It’s bold. It’s personal. And it rips.

What is Lilith?
Meet LILITH. An immortal demon banished from a hellish dimension and stuck on Earth, where she hides in plain sight as a model. But when she meets Penelope, a sweet bookstore owner holding a mysterious tome, things get complicated fast. Between forbidden magic, unwanted feelings, and an oversized, three-eyed cat named Gordy, LILITH is a hell of a time.
This trade paperback collects issues #1–5 of Corin Howell’s monster-girl hit. If you like manga-inspired horror, sapphic romance, or bad girls with sharp teeth and killer eyeliner, this one’s for you.
